A Jessa Update...

Hmm, so November was the last time I posted something on here? Wow! I am more overdue for an update than I thought! Jessa is doing great and getting ready for her third birthday. It's hard to believe she is almost three. She has quite the vocabulary and apparently knows how to use it because she chatters nonstop! She is constantly on the go and you never know what her imagination will come up with or what she's going to say about something. Sometimes she sounds so grown up.

Sorry to say we are still working on potty training. She's always had trouble with irregularity and just when we were doing good with the potty it flared up again. She wanted nothing to do with it. The doctor had us put her back on medicine to get her regulated and now that she's getting better with that issue she's starting to show interest in the potty again. Someday (hopefully very soon) this task will conquered!

Our daycare provider constantly says Jessa is ahead in a lot of areas for her age. She can say her ABC's, can count to ten with no problems, and is getting pretty good at counting to twenty by herself. She knows all her colors and shapes, and recognizes letters and numbers. She knows her full name and can spell her first name. She's getting better at coloring inside lines and is getting pretty good at drawing things like smiley faces, letters, and numbers. She has learned a lot at the daycare, including interaction and sharing with other kids.

She really is a blast! It's hard to imagine what life was like without her.

Jessa wanted her own Christmas tree this year, so we got her a little one. It just got taken down about a week ago.

We got Jessa a blowup mattress/sleeping bag for our Thanksgiving trip to Branson. She kinda liked it.

We got Jessa an IXL to keep her occupied on the way to/from Branson. This is the BEST thing we've bought her and I totally recommend it for anyone with a young child. It's a digital reader, drawing pad, tracing pad for letters/numbers, has games, and you can download music and pictures onto it. She loves it and amazed us with how fast she learned how to use it.

She was really into seeing Santa this year. Gave him a high-five, pulled on his beard, and told him what she wanted for Christmas. Check out the third picture for her excitement after her visit with him.

She watched the parade in style and was very excited to see Santa again when his sleigh came through. Santa even blew her a kiss as he went by.

Happy Halloween!

Jessa had a good Halloween again this year. Spent the day at home watching the Chiefs game with Daddy (yeah! they won!), Grandma and Grandpa Switzer came up for dinner, and of course we went trick or treating! Before that, she had fun picking out her own pumpkins at the pumpkin patch and other fun things they had at the farm.

She is so much fun. And what a sponge!! She will repeat anything right now and always wants more information: why? what? who? where? It never stops. Her verbal skills are very good and so is her memory. If you promise her something, you better follow through or she'll let you know about it! We have officially gotten rid of the pacifier (yeah!!!) and are working on potty training (uuggghhh..). Sometimes she'll sit on and use the big girl potty and other times she wants nothing to do with it. We're making progress though and she's come to us and the sitter several times saying she needs to go and does use it when we take her.

Next up: Thanksgiving and Christmas! We're very excited to take her to Branson over Thanksgiving. She will be lots of fun at Silver Dollar City this year. We've been talking a lot about Santa lately and she already knows what she's going to ask him for: a baby doll set. She wants her own doll with diaper bag, play pin, etc. Such a little girl! Well, mostly...check out the new boots she's wearing in some of the pictures. They were the un-girliest ones they had and she LOVES them! Gotta admit, they're super cute on her!!

Goooo Chiefs!!

Jessa watched today's Chiefs game with Daddy. She got almost as excited at he did (almost). During overtime she stood by him and copied his reactions to the plays. This is a video of the last play of the game when the Chiefs won. They didn't know I was recording them. Thankfully it was a good field goal kick and the Chiefs won, so I got their reaction and "celebration" on video.

Yes, I'm FINALLY updating this!!

I've been really bad at keeping this updated and have some catching up to do! Jessa's doing great and continues to be a lot of fun. We're starting to see some of those "terrible two" moments, but thankfully they don't last long...yet. She's talking non-stop and learning new words and phrases every day. She's up to 28 pounds and the doctor says she's ahead on verbal skills. Bottom line: our girl is happy and healthy!
